University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has deployed CLEO SOLO EPS across two urgent treatment centres alongside the Trust’s new EPR. The trust chose to use CLEO SOLO EPS alongside its new EPR to complement the solution and to use CLEO’s additional functionality for online prescriptions. The solution is being rolled out across a UHCW urgent treatment centre and at a community centre.

CLEO SOLO EPS is a stand-alone electronic prescribing solution for secondary care outpatient prescribing settings and works alongside electronic patient record systems. It digitises the process of sending FP10 prescriptions to community pharmacies and is achieving remarkable benefits for users, including a vastly improved patient experience as well as the eradication of lost and stolen scripts, enhancing clinical safety. University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust one of the UK's largest teaching Trusts responsible for managing two major hospitals in Coventry and Rugby, which between them serve a population of over a million people.

The trust chose to use CLEO SOLO EPS due to their need within their UTC to be able to prescribe out to community Pharmacies.

Gareth Woods, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust says ‘Giving patients choice on how to access care has been a priority for UHCW as we look to achieve our strategic aims. The use of the CLEO system has enabled us to meet this aim by offering patients a choice of where to collect medications, allowing remote consultations to occur and prescriptions to be sent to a convenient pharmacy. This is looking to reduce health inequalities and ensure patients receive appropriate care conveniently and in a timely manner.’

Stephen Inglis, Service Manager, Coventry Urgent Treatment Centre says: ‘CLEO has enabled the UTC to electronically prescribe, cutting down the need for paper FP10s. The system is stand alone and easy to use. Patients like that they can have their prescription sent to any pharmacy of their choice.’

David Brown, Managing Director at CLEO Systems says: “We’re proud to see CLEO SOLO EPS making such a positive impact at UHCW. Working alongside the new EPR, CLEO SOLO EPS will enable the Trust to fully digitise the prescribing process at urgent treatment centres, helping to streamline workflows and enhance clinical safety. Our commitment to the UHCW team is to work with them to  integrate CLEO SOLO EPS with their chosen EPR. This implementation addresses key challenges faced by trusts, particularly around the risks of lost or delayed prescriptions, by ensuring that prescriptions are securely and efficiently sent to community pharmacies in real-time.”
