CLEO Urgent Care - Transforming Urgent Care with BrisDoc
Transforming Urgent Care: BrisDoc Deploys CLEO Urgent
Care to Drive Efficiency and Enhance Patient Care.
The Challenge
BrisDoc has successfully transitioned from its long-standing urgent care system to CLEO Urgent Care - a modern, flexible platform designed to support clinical safety, operational efficiency, and improved patient outcomes. In close collaboration with CLEO Systems, BrisDoc implemented CLEO Urgent Care to streamline workflows, boost interoperability, and improve both patient and clinician experience. The result: measurable efficiencies, enhanced oversight, and a solid foundation for future innovation.
The Solution
CLEO Urgent Care was selected for its robust clinical safety credentials and compliance with NHS England assurance standards.
Deb Lowndes, Programme and Service Director, BrisDoc Healthcare Services: “With CLEO CORE, we anticipated improvements in clinical workflows, decision-making, and patient safety — all supported by CLEO’s data-rich platform and intuitive design.
The transition also prompted us to enhance our Digital Clinical Safety Management system. CLEO Systems were a true partner throughout.”
Following rigorous user acceptance testing, BrisDoc went live with CLEO Urgent Care in August 2025, ensuring ample time for training, engagement, and a smooth rollout.
Enhanced Functionality and Cost Efficiency “CLEO delivers improved functionality across clinical consultation, service flow, interoperability, and patient engagement,” says Deb. “Some benefits emerged organically - features baked into CLEO’s design that we hadn’t initially anticipated. CLEO is also cost-neutral at launch, offering scalability and flexibility without adding financial pressure. Ongoing maintenance and development costs are significantly lower than with our previous supplier.”
Improved Home Visiting Workflow
CLEO is fully enabled in home visit vehicles, allowing clinicians to access GP summary records and prescribe via EPS. This eliminates manual data entry, improves clarity in shared records.
Operational Efficiencies and Time Savings
BrisDoc has identified multiple efficiencies, including:
Time Savings:
- Streamlined appointment booking
- Spine match visibility - focusing only on unmatched cases
- Mental health case scripting - ensuring consistent documentation
- Photo request and attachment workflows - freeing up weekend shifts
Operational Improvements:
- Breach time visibility for proactive case management
- Detailed audit trails for governance and assurance
- Enhanced queue screen visuals for faster decision-making
- Improved transparency in Clinical Navigator case reviews
- Accurate case routing to Oversight queue
- Accurate case routing to Oversight queue
Queue management and clinical review processes have also been significantly enhanced, with decluttered follow-up queues and streamlined workflows supported by clear audit trails.
Interoperability and Data Insights
- CLEO Urgent Care has strengthened interoperability through:
- Sesui integration for Click to Dial
- Clinical Guardian integration for automated audits
- Planned EMIS and Connecting Care integrations
- Improved use of Patient Demographic Service (PDS) for prescribing and onward car
“The ability to integrate with existing systems and access actionable data is transformative for both clinical decision-making and service improvement,” Deb adds. “CLEO has been a true partner,” says Deb. “Their collaborative approach, alignment with our values as a social enterprise, and willingness to innovate alongside us have made the process feel supportive and responsive. Their commitment to improving urgent care services and co-developing a future roadmap is already underway.”
