Whittington Health NHS Trust has deployed CLEO SOLO EPS across the trust, which will enable them to replace traditional Paper FP10 prescriptions. The trust has started the deployment with the Community Heart Failure team and will be rolling out to other community sites going forward. This marks a significant step towards enhancing prescription management, improving patient experience and outcomes and supporting the NHS and the trust’s commitment to sustainability.
Whittington Health is an integrated health organisation that provides hospital and community care services to 500,000 people living in Islington, Haringey and other London boroughs. CLEO SOLO EPS has a streamlined approach which empowers clinicians to prescribe medication electronically that can be collected from a community pharmacy of the patient’s choice.
The implementation is anticipated to revolutionise how prescriptions are issued within Whittington Health’s community healthcare settings, aligning with its mission to deliver efficient, high-quality care. The deployment includes some key benefits, including being more convenient and more timely for patient to access medication, a reduced burden on GPs and reduced risk of misplaced or lost prescriptions, CLEO EPS includes additional cost centres (Y-codes) which addresses the standardisation of the cost code charging model across primary and secondary care.
Joseph Grayson, Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Digital and Informatics Lead at Whittington Health: "The deployment is going very well, and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits, particularly supporting GPs in our area. Traditionally, when community patients require medication, requests were often sent to GPs to issue prescriptions. With CLEO EPS, community teams can issue prescriptions directly and electronically, alleviating the burden on GPs. We will also be measuring the benefits through QI."
Emma Dew, Sales & Marketing Director at CLEO Systems said: “We are delighted to be working with Whittington Health on this implementation, it is great to see the benefits being recognised already, reducing the burden for GPs which is such a positive impact for Trusts, GP’s and Patients alike.”
